Months after their surprising victory over the invading Vorlins, Matt and his friends find themselves sidelined by Admiral Kinnison, the commander of the Kingdom of Haven's navy. They finally get their chance to serve as Combat Coordinators once again, but their operation goes horribly wrong. Now, exiled to a half-abandoned Havenite military base and out of the fight, Matt stumbles upon a frightening possibility; the Vorlins have a new weapon that will ensure a victory over the Kingdom's navy the next time they meet.
