In this issue, we begin with a commentary by John R. Seffrin, Ph.D., CEO of the American Cancer Society, Inc., and of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. Dr. Seffrin details how this 100-year-old organization has adapted and innovated to meet the demands of today’s challenges. We are also very pleased to present an intriguing paper on microfinance and incentives to engaging in microfinance activites by Naveen Kumar K of the Natinoal Institute of Bank Management in Pune, India. Next is an article by Tiina Soininen of the University of Eastern Finalnd, regarding evaluation in public management. In this article, Tiina discusses the effects of her findings on nonprofit organizations. We conclude this issue with a study conducted by Jim Pinder of the Loma Linda School of Pharmacy. In this paper, Pinder presents data from his study of development professionals at faith-based NPOs—identifying possible means to retaining successful development staff.
