The 99% Manifesto: How The 1% Are Beating You, And What You Can Do About It

A good part of the life of many Americans has been made up of the Communist menace. The Korean War, Vietnam, and the ensuing Cambodian and Laotian conflicts killed around 100,000 of your countrymen, injured and maimed hundreds of thousands of your soldiers, and killed and maimed millions of local soldiers and inhabitants. The toll on America’s national debt was staggering, and in the case of Vietnam, their social and moral consciousness was ripped apart. All for what – this communist menace? The Vietnamese war ended in 1975, yet a mere 17 years later (1992), the United States government and Hanoi began trading with one another, that now has them exporting and importing billions of dollars of merchandise each year. And those feared Russian and Chinese commie dogs? China boasts 122 and Russia 110 billionaires! Brooklyn, NY now has a professional basketball team in downtown Brooklyn owned and run by one of those 122 Russian billionaires. The Berlin Wall fell in 1989, and just twenty years later, a “Communist” bought an NBA team and the Barclay Center in Brooklyn that will soon be worth over $4 billion. Just 25 years ago, Americans were programmed to fear a Soviet Union nuclear attack, and now they run the Brooklyn, NY’s professional sports team. That Commie menace has now been replaced by the Terrorist menace which justified more wars, this time in Afghanistan and Iraq. You remember President George W. Bush’s Axis of Evil, don’t you? The United States had just come off one of the most profitable and peaceful decades in its history. On September 12, 2001, nothing in the world had changed but for a horrific act committed the day before by a maniacal terrorist group that desperately needed to be stopped from ever performing such a treacherous deed ever again, anywhere on the face of the Earth. Yet all of a sudden, the President of the United States was calling for a war against the axis of evil of Iran, Iraq, and North Korea. Forget containing the red menace; now we had to contain an axis of evil. America’s men and women have been sent into battle an average of once every 3 years since 1898. Get it yet? Yet the wealth and the strategic power that the real 1%ers have accrued through the years from these wars is staggering.
