Description ▲
This book argues that Africa is in a mess due to African people’s imprudent and misguided actions at the macro, meso and micro levels in all African countries. The book’s contention is that even though Africa’s problems emanate from slavery and colonialism, most of them, are actually man-made, that is, created by Africans themselves. The former are referred to in the book as the “wrong things about Africaâ€. If Africa is to prosper and advance in all facets of human endeavour, then all Africans must discard and eradicate all the “wrong things about Africa†which are mentioned in this book. “I have certainly learnt many things of real value and gained tremendous insights from reading your book, which I think took great courage - and a great love for Africa - to write in the first place. I applaud you and stand in awe of your outspokenness and candour in exposing the “wrong things about Africa†that you cite in your book. At the same time, I feel your passion and your pain, and have been deeply touched by your book. Your heart and mind, your honour, integrity and deep desire to see a Reformation take place on the African Continent comes through on every page. I salute your endeavour with this book, which, I can feel, is written with the experience, wisdom and pain of your whole life, up to this point.†Editor’s comments ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ndangwa Noyoo is an author and former student activist. He was part of the 32 University of Zambia (UNZA) students who were detained in 1990 by the one-party state regime of Kenneth Kaunda after they inspired a country-wide rebellion against dictatorship in Zambia. These students were tortured and dehumanised by the one-party state security forces whilst in detention but would continue fighting for the re-introduction of multi-party democracy after they were released. Due to this, a year later in 1991, Kenneth Kaunda was overwhelmingly rejected by the Zambian people and voted out of power after being president for 27 years.
