Chemical Bonding Theory

This text gives a simple introduction to modern ideas of the chemical bond. The electronic structure of atoms and molecules is developed in easy steps without a detailed mathematical description. Emphasis is placed upon the principles of chemical bonding. These are illustrated by the results of recent ab-initio molecular orbital and valence-bond calculations. It includes a selection of organic and inorganic examples and the use of elementary aspects of atomic and molecular spectroscopy.
