Pedro Alvarez Cabral: Discoverer of Brazil (1000 Readers)

Pedro Alvarez Cabral is one of history's noteworthy explorers. However, not much is known about his life. He was born sometime between 1460 and 1467, in Belmonte, Portugal. He was the third son of Fernao Cabral, the governor of Beira and Belmonte. His mother's name was Isabel de Gouvea.
