The Christian Apologist: Always Being Prepared to Make a Defense

MOST Christian apologetic books help the reader know what to say; THE CHRISTIAN APOLOGIST is how to effectively say it. Our example in helping the unbeliever to understand the Bible has been provided by Jesus Christ and his apostles. Geisler informs us that "evangelism is planting seeds of the Gospel," and "pre-evangelism is tilling the soil of people's hearts of people's minds and hearts to help them be more willing to listen to the truth. Conversation Evangelism, p. 22. Yes, pre-evangelism is apologetics, i.e., defending the Word of God and the faith. The apostle Peter says that Christians are to "honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15
