Description

s the main character goes into the woods/forest to commit suicide, he finds a mysterious and extremely intelligent dog who it seems he has an almost telepathic connection with, as there is something in each of them the other needs and this dog seems to "talk" him out of his previous plans. This dog is also mysteriously drawn to a seemingly mousy, quiet, introverted, mistreated young woman they meet in town and end up rescuing her from a rapist. She, in turn, ends up being intertwined in their lives as they all try to stay alive running and hiding from an organization/scientific lab (which wants to continue its experiments and studies on the "creatures" it has created) which has created two creatures (dogs), one loving and kind, the other vicious and murderous, both with higher than normal intelligence for mere animals. The vicious dog creation has torn apart, mutilated, and many, many people, including most of the doctors/scientist who created it, but it cannot be located as it hides in the forests surrounding the community.
