Monsters, Gods and Heroes : The Epic In Literature

You start with Homer's Iliad and end with Spencer's Fairy Queen for classics. There is discussion about some contemporary contenders of epic novels the last 2 lectures with Milton, Joyce, Twain, Tolstoy and Tolkien to name a few. The professor also suggests more classic and contemporary "epic-like" books to read (which I have!) like Gilgamesh, Arthurian lore, some Italian epic attempts and Anna Karenina.
