Tourism and the History of Taormina, Sicily, 1750-1950 (Mellen Studies in Geography)

This study examines what the Taorminese did to develop their resources and the image and myth of Taormina to cater for tourism. Areas investigated are: the social organization of the community; first contact with outsiders; history and monuments; popular culture and sense of identity.
