After surviving the Sioux uprising of 1862, Genevieve LaCroix, daughter of a Dakota Sioux and a French aristocrat, is now helping to care for widower Simon Dane's children. Though physical wounds are healing, it is taking more time for Gen's spirit to revive after learning of Daniel Two Star's death by hanging.
