Prior to 1880 the best source for vital records was local newspapers. With this in mind, this book presents death and marriage notices abstracted from Washington County, New York, newspapers from 1799 to 1880--data which may be otherwise difficult to come by, and which is undoubtedly a valuable aid to researchers. Although published in Washington County, these notices are not limited to Washington County. Chronologically arranged the death notices include: date of death; the deceased's age at death, birth date, family members, residence(s), military experience, and occupation.
