User-Friendly Irrigation Designs

This volume presents an alternative strategy of irrigation development for India and elsewhere. Sengupta argues for an imaginative approach based on traditional practices, considering them to be less damaging than `modern' techniques. He examines 50 such systems on the Indian subcontinent and discusses their aggregate effects, environmental impact and salient management features.
