Unfamiliar Relations: Family and History in South Asia

This work restores the family and its many forms and meanings to a central place in the history of South Asia between the 17th and 19th centuries. Approaching the study from the pre-colonial period the work should be of interest to South Asianists and scholars of the family, gender and colonialism.
