Shelley's Doppleganger: Thomas Jefferson Hogg and the "Ineffectual Angel" (Garland Reference Library of the Humanities)

Thomas Jefferson Hogg's Life of Percy Bysshe Shelley is known to be seriously flawed by extensive alterations, omissions, and false assertions; yet it is still regarded as an essential source of information on Shelley's early years. This study examines the reluctance of scholars to discredit the book and analyzes Hogg's character and motives in comparison with the Hogg depicted in the Life.
