Pan American Visions: Woodrow Wilson and the Western Hemisphere, 1913-1921

Mark Gilderhus's penetrating study traces Wilson's effort to develop and act upon a Pan American vision to reform and regulate the conduct of international relations in Latin America, and draws on such primary material as State Department records and Wilson's personal papers to trace U.S.-Latin American relations both as World War 1 evolved in the wake of that conflict. Particular attention is given to the roles of Argentina, Brazil, and Chile-the principal prospective partners in Wilson's plan.
