An Elemental Analysis of Service Charges (Commercial Property Guidance Notes)

The "Commercial Property Guidance Note" series is aimed at promoting good administrative and business practice between landlords (or managers) and their tenants in the management of commercial property. It seeks to encourage good working relationships between owners and occupiers, and also stresses the importance of good communication and co-operation to ensure the pre-eminent position of chartered surveyors in the commercial property marketplace remains unchallenged. This publication is intended to help explain and analyze the various key elements involved in service charges. In particular, it seeks to assist chartered surveyors whose principal activity is not actually property management, but who need a clear explanation of the difficulties associated with service charges, and of the relationship between landlords and tenants.
