The Other Balkan Wars: A 1913 Carnegie Endowment Inquiry in Retrospect

"The Other Balkan Wars" portrays both the human and political dimensions of the animosities that currently beset the region in the aftermath of the breakup of Yugoslavia. It also features, with a modern introduction, the re-published 1913 findings of a Commission of Inquiry into the causes and consequences of the Balkan Wars of 1912 and 1913. George F. Kennan's ontroduction explores similarities and differences between the Balkan wars then and now, and reflects on the challenges that the present conflict poses for the international community.
