Shadow's Stand

When Becca, a budding young journalist hears about a dog living on a median strip in front of the animal shelter, she takes up the cause to rescue the dog. Meanwhile, she gets to know Shake, an aloof schoolmate with a mysterious home life. Shake and Shadow, the dog develop a relationship of their own...both appear to be loners but are seeking a place to belong.

The book explores the issues of lonliness, animal and human cruelty and our need to copnnect with the world and those around us.

Expecially poignant are the "Shadow" sections at the end of each chapter which delve into the mind of the dog.
