African Cichlids of Lakes Malawi and Tanganyika

Earlier editions of this book kept readers up-to-date with the newest names that should be applied to the species that had been already imported and established in the hobby as well the newest species and/or morphs that had appeared in the dealers' shops shortly before publication. This, the ninth edition, performs the same much-needed task but in a new and improved format that makes it easy to find and identify the fishes. the cichlids of each lake have now been grouped in separate sections, with one section for the fishes of Lake Malawi and one for the fishes of Lake Tanganyika. Within each section the fishes are grouped by genus and species so that the reader does not have to skip through the book trying to compare a photo on one page with another in another part of the book. For example, anyone wanted to see all the Pseudotropheus zebra photos will be able to do so within a page or two. In addition, the text has been completely rewritten to bring the book more up-to-date with the hobby as it has progressed since the first edition. There are many new photos and check lists. These are the only complete up-to-date lists of species of the two lakes in print today. The authors are: Dr. Warren E. Burgess, a noted ichthyologist, and Dr. Herbert R. Axelrod, a tropical fish expert and publisher of pet books.
