Advances in Abrasive Technology (Key Engineering Materials)

This book presents up-to-date information for active researchers and engineers. It could be used to form the basis for any future research in the field of abrasive technology aimed at creating new and practical machine tools, systems and processes or identifying new characterstics. In all, 97 papers were contributed. The topics covered include the mechanics of the grinding processes, the grinding and cutting of brittle materials, precision and surface-quality enhancement, grinding wheels, cooling and coolants, advances in tuning and dressing for grinding, polishing, micro-machining, novel abrasive techniques and novel machining techniques. Within each topic, novel designs in systems and machine tools, novel techniques and processes are reported. The modelling and characterization of the characteristics and performance of abrasive processes are also presented.
