Home on the Hill: A Bombay Girlhood

This autobiographical work conveys the ways in which every childhood is the same yet also unique and private. Merchant was raised in the Tiny Parsi community of Bombay. Her upper-middle class, English-speaking world contrasted sharply with the traditional India of conflicting cultures and poverty.
