Metal-surface reaction energetics: Theory and applications to heterogeneous catalysis, chemisorption, and surface diffusion

This book focuses on the ways of calculating the heats of adsorption and reaction activation barriers, and how these energetics determine the diffusion adsorbed species and their chemical reactivity revealing in dissociation, recombination, and disproportionation. Recent advances have made it possible to gain a good understanding of chemical transformations occurring on the surfaces of transition metals which are the intrinsic parts of most industrial catalysts. The editor has made extensive efforts to make the chapters one cohesive volume, complementary in substance and coherent in conclusions.
