Music, American Made draws on a wealth of new research and analysis to offer fresh observations on musical events and developments in American music from the 1820s to the 1970s, and brings into timely relief the extraordinary diversity of music composed and performed in the United States in that pivotal period. The twenty-nine essays in the volume honor John Graziano, a distinguished scholar of American music, Emeritus Professor of Music at The Graduate Center and the City College of The City University of New York, former President of the Society for American Music, and the director of the Music in Gotham project.
