Portrait of a Quaker: Levi T. Pennington, 1875-1975--A Critical Biography

President of Pacific College (now George Fox University) in Newberg, Oregon, for 30 years, Pennington was a leader who saw the unique mission of a Christian college in the larger context of American higher education. He was a Quaker who believed in nonviolence and practical help for those less fortunate. He was a man capable of friendship with people ranging from President of the United States Herbert Hoover, to a shy student from an Oregon farm.
