This book is an extraordinary compilation of photographs featuring the historic development of all the Southern Pacific railroad lines in Oregon. Many of the photographs were inaccessible before this 1993 publication and are printed here for the first time. The accompanying text provides a history of each segment of the line, the communities connected to it and additional stories. Also included are maps and yard layouts associated with the text. The book begins with Portland and vicinity, then covers the Valley Main Line, the East side Branches, the West side Branches, the Coast Branches, etc. A full index and bibliography are also included in this vast and informative book.
