HIV...is a harmless little hitchhiker along for the ride." Duesberg became convinced a few years ago that the theory that says HIV is the cause of AIDS -- is wrong. "Nothing demonstrates the failure of the viris-AIDS hypothesis better than its results," he says. "It has not saved one life, not predicted the spread of AIDS correctly, not led to any useful medication or vaccine, and is the basis for the daily poisoning of 125,000 people with AZT. But, if the HIV is not the cause of AIDS, then what is? Long-term drug use, Duesberg argues, is at the heart of immune-system dysfunction.
