Coleman R. Seward is a product of Lawrenceville, VA where he grew up in a proud, working class family on a farm. He attended St. Paul's High School graduating with honors, with a goal to attend college. Following military service during the Korean War he entered Howard University and was accepted into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. These were two significant milestones in his journey. Another was marrying the love of his life, Marlon Edmonds. Coleman having majored in science accepted a position as a chemist with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA. He served in many locations and at many levels, since joining the FDA, culminating to the position of Region-al Director of Science for the eight states of the South East, extending from North Carolina to Florida.During his more than 20 years with the FDA, Coleman has received many honors and awards including the FDA AWARD OF MERIT, the highest honor given by the agency. He has published more than 30 scientific papers in leading national and international journals, participated as speaker at sev-eral national and international scientific meetings, symposiums and seminars. In private life following an illustrious career with the federal government, Seward had a career as an insurance agent, an investment advisor, a columnist for a Dekalb County newspaper, and as a candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives. In addition to his many FDA awards, he has received numerous community and civic awards as well. Coleman is happily married to the former Marlon J. Edmonds and is the father of two sons. Clifford Ray, a physician in Atlanta, GA and Brian Elwin, an attorney who lives in New York, NY.
