In the 1990s The Milwaukee Art Museum sought to strengthen its already extensive collection of the works of 19th Century German artists. Collecting works on paper—prints and drawings—became the most effective way of doing so, and the expansion of the collection and its significance are documented by this catalog to a 2002 exhibition.
