That Audacious Traitor

The present book completes a trilogy presenting in broad outline the story of Inis Eoghain during those centuries when the peninsula existed as a Gaelic principality. This third volume deals with the period from 1333 to 1609 and adds a brief account of the Plantation and its aftermath. To view the book from another angle, it tells the story of the House of O Dochartaigh from the years when this distinguished family began to fill the power vacuum in Inis Eoghain until the day when Cathaoir Rua gave his life in defence of his patrimony. The year 1609 marked the beginning of three centuries of English rule.
