Description ▲
In 1072 A.D William the Conqueror (King of England / Duke of Normandy) and the Norman war machine invaded Scotland and forced the Scottish King Malcolm III to sign the Treaty of Abernethy. In the Treaty, Malcolm acknowledged William as his overlord and the Kingdom of Scotland became a vassal state of the Norman Kings of England. Over the next 200 years the Normans infiltrated Scotland. The final showdown took place at the end of the 13th century when the nation-breaking Anglo-Norman King Edward I “Longshanks†entered the Lion’s den to do battle with the Scottish heroes William Wallace “Braveheart†and Robert de Bruce.
