A Dark Shaft of Light

A dark, lonely country road, a car that will not start, an academic position under threat, for painfully shy mathematics lecturer, Dr Kevin Hansen life was unravelling. Now he has an unwanted passenger – the mysterious Ella, a young woman who is desperate to escape from her past. But Ella is not the only one with secrets. The troubled Dr Douglas Grant, the former intellectual star of the department is wracked with guilt over his complicity in violent death. His fiancé is struggling to come to terms with her discovery of her late father’s cruelty to others. The deputy head of the department, the gregarious Dr Richard Murdoch and his beautiful, but remote wife Margaret, both have parts of their lives that are hidden. All this is presided over by a departmental head, who is both ruthless and ambitious. Ella’s entrance into this mix, leads to brutal murder.
