Frozen Fire

This is a delightful story about the adventures of a little dragon who has lost her fire and of other dragons who want to help to restore it. She is approached by a dragon concerned by her tears. He tells her he knows how to fix the problem. A fiery but generous old dragon and a wizard are encountered as the story progresses. It ends with a spark of a new fire in the little dragon.

The back of the book has a coloring book section with scenes of dragons from the story for children to color.

The story was the original form of correspondence between the author – an unrelated bone marrow donor -– and the recipient of his marrow. The story illustrates for younger readers the marrow transplant procedure. The book has been very encouraging to patients involved in situations paralleling the conditions leading to the need for tissue and organ transplant regardless of their age.

The story and bone marrow were donated to the National Marrow Donor Program by the author and proceeds from the book are also donated to the same program.
