Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream : A Prose Narrative

A retelling of the play in story form designed to introduce children ages 7-14 to the magical world of Shakespeare. The narrative contains many favorite lines, so the sound and flavor of the dialogue will be familiar when the child sees the actual play. The book contains six four-color and six black and white illustrations as well as illuminated capitals for the beginning of each scene and other artistic touches. A special feature of the book is an envelope inside the back cover containing script cards designed to allow a child to play out two simple scenes from the play with a parent or friend. A prologue and epilogue contain an introduction to Shakespeare's time and language, as well as staging and costume suggestions.
