Description

Shelter Cove, the Early Years is a true story about a small coastal community in San Mateo county in northern California. The secluded beach at Shelter Cove and Pedro Point, together with the quaint cottages lining the Cove and the surrounding environs, are rich in history. The story begins in the 18th century with the explorers meeting up with local Indians. Tales are next spun about the short-lived Ocean Shore Railroad. The wild Prohibition days and their turbulent stories follow. The legends of several shipwrecks on the rocks of Pedro Point in the latter part of the 19th and early 20th centuries also add flavor. There is much more to this book, too, that is filled with humor and some heartache. Great history and lots of black and white photos.
