The Salzdorf Wellspring

During the mid-1950s, winds of change encircled the globe. In postwar America it was a time of peace and hope, a time of rebuilding, with a resurgence of love for country and family. Elsewhere, all was not so quiet and tranquil. Much of Europe was still recovering from the horrors and destruction of WWII. Old Masters paintings and other priceless objets d’art were stolen from victims of the Reich and secretly stored in mines and vaults all over Germany. Many of those hiding places were discovered after the war—many remain hidden—even today.

One in particular, the Salzdorf Wellspring was the richest and most magnificent of them all. Even at death's doorstep wearing an immaculate uniform with the coveted Iron Cross next to his heart, the Führer’s last thought was of the single richest collection of art and wealth ever collected—his Salzdorf Wellspring.

Years later Karl Miller stood where Hitler himself once walked in that secret mine amidst vast treasure. Miller also wore an impeccable uniform with the German Iron Cross next to his heart. He too was possessed by the same evil, sadistic and murderous ways of the Führer. But there was one important difference. Miller wore the uniform of a Captain in the United States Air Force.
