Possum: A Novel of the American Civil War

Giles Smith is nicknamed "Possum". When he refuses to fight in the Civil War he must flee into the swamp, along with his relatives and family servants. While the grey coats want to hang him and the blue coats want to shoot him, Possum finds life in the swamp its own daily struggle for survival.
