This study continues an interest in the doubling which occurs in the medieval Germanic world where Merlin appears in various forms, the Green Knight alternates his shape with the Lord of the Castle, or Morgan shifts from the old hag to the young seductress to the doubling phenomenon in three of Toni Morrison’s novels.
