Staten Island: The Other Cradle of Aviation

A new book on the local history of aviation on Staten Island, New York. Staten Island was the site of the first aircraft factory in the U.S., as well as being very rich in aviation history from the 1890s up to the mid-1960s, when the last private airport on the island was closed. The book is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", soft cover, 143 pages, with over 100 photos. It includes a list of aviation-related locations on the island as well as a time line. Also reproduced in the rear of the book is a rare C. & A.Wittemann aeronautical catalog from circa 1910.
