Charles Gerson was born and reared in Atlanta, Georgia. he received his bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.D. from Emory University, where he graduated magna cum laude. He completed his post-graduate training in urological surgery at the University of Michigan. He lives in Asheville, North Carolina with his wife and two children.
