Description ▲
A Portrait of Puerto Rico A Portrait of Puerto Rico contains original drawings and satire sketches published in El Imparcial , Puerto Rico s premier newspaper in1944. Graphic artist Fernando Luis Conesa, presents in his caricatures the intrigues, conflicts, and sense of humor of Puerto Rican politicians during the tumultuous 1940-1944 epochs. This historical period, noticeable for World War ll, paved the road for the founding and victory of the Popular Democratic Party led by the creator of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Luis Muñoz MarÃn. Most of these unique drawings are accompanied with explicit text describing the political campaigns of the time, with the protagonists presented in their natural surroundings and situations. This bilingual unusual paperback book has 240 pages, and is 8.3/8 x 10.7/8. The Institute of Puerto Rican Culture co - sponsors the book. The release took place on August 26, 2005 at the University of Puerto Rico, presented by UNESCO and the Association of Puerto Rican Cartoonists. Content: Political satire cartoons.
