How The Lilies Grow is a book written for the purpose of sharing one person’s life journey so that others might have knowledge of at least one road that was taken by a parent who was challenged by their child’s severe mental disability. Barbara’s desire is to give parents, family members, professionals and community support members hope so that when they are faced with helping persons with enormous long term mental health issues such as Alzheimer’s, brain damage or developmental disabilities, they will take heart and have knowledge and tools that may make their path a bit easier.
