A human comedy about a non-conformist from Chicago's upscale North Shore whose drama played for six decades to audiences that were sometimes hostile, sometimes touched, and often amused. During an adventurous 1950s adolescence Inglehart found his niche in theater, a career that ended abruptly in unplanned parenthood. Still hoping for a career in the performing arts, Inglehart turned to broadcast advertising where his commercials earned him national and international recognition, and eventual bankruptcy. He then developed a radically different business plan that opened in New York to widespread critical acclaim and success, a late-in-life victory that is sweet because it is so improbable. Only then did the author realize that he had never left the performing arts.
