Description

This is a book, written by Jerry Robinson(worked with Bob Kane on original Batman; was the creator of The Joker and had a hand in creating Robin; did a lot of the illustrating on The Batman stories as the years rolled by), Jules Feiffer...who needs no 'blurb he is so well-known...and a newer writer of note, Michael Chabon (Kavelier and Clay). This book is really rare as it was published by the Breman Heritage Jewish Museum. It is a brief look at 1939-1950 , with some emphasis on the ethnic background of the creators of Superman, Batman, Captain America and more Golden Age icons. The book contains many great comic (color) covers repro-ed inside the book...just look at the classic Superman cover used for the book's front cover; some great covers inside the book in B/W. It was written by two of the writers/illustrators who were there in the 1940's
