Author Mark Freeland self-published two books "Every Night is Different" and "Somewhat Hip" the latter earned him a Silver Independent Publishers Award in the graphic novel category. The books contain his poetry, photography, prose and painting. "He was a walking art installation, a painter whose greatest work was himself," proclaimed News Pop Music Critic Jeff Miers. Mark Freeland passed away on June 14, 2007.
