Description

Richard Holley, a native of Panama City, Florida has a deep fondness for the town of St. Andrews, Florida and the fishing industry that emerged from there. Growing up, he attended St. Andrews Elementary, Jinks Junior High and graduated from Bay High School in 1965. His only time away from Panama City was during his service in the United States Air Force Crash Boat Section. Following the unexpected death of his father, he returned to Panama City and obtained his captain's license and began operating passenger-carrying vessels for hire. His tenure in the fishing industry spanned over half a century, first as a teenage deckhand and later captain of the Captain Anderson, New Dixie Queen, Ocean Queen and the Florida Queen. He then owned and operated the A.R. Holley (formerly Lady M) and the second A.R. Holley (formerly Sunrise). After selling the boat in 2000, he set out to write his memoirs of his beloved St. Andrews. His completed work was published in January 2006 under the title The Great St. Andrews in the Shoes of a Fisherman. Richard and his wife Ronda reside in Lynn Haven, Florida.
