What would you do if you had the challenges Marlin Keesler has? Marlin has two children who are a bit different. They both have a high functioning form of autism called Asperger syndrome. They struggle with learning academically and interacting socially with their peers. Marlin says; "They are not dumb, they just learn differently. They are like the purest form of innocence there is."
So what is a parent to do? Marlin and his wife Jeanne decided to creatively tackle this challenge through travel. They set a goal to visit every state in the U.S. Each trip was designed as a learning experience. In addition, Marlin decided to instill the concept of goal setting to this quest. With this he took on the challenge of running a full marathon (26.2 miles) in each state and DC.
How did things turn out? This wonderful family story will inspire you, move you to tears, and leave you wanting to follow their incredible example. This is one adventure you will be glad you came along on.
