Paul Greer and Henry Wilts dreamed of becoming fighter pilots at the tender age of eight. Though both boys came from a family with means, there would be a few major obstacles to this childhood dream. It was 1926, and they lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, a part of the heartland of racial segregation. This wouldn t have been such a problem, except Paul was white, and Henry was black. Born several weeks apart, Paul and Henry would form a friendship that transcended time and space, that continues on through their offspring to this very day. Armed only with a dream, these two boys strive to overcome adversity to their friendship if they are to realize their dream to fly together. By the middle of World War II, Paul is forced to leave Henry behind and become a P-51 Mustang fighter pilot on his own. It seemed to both boys that this dream might never be able to come true. The last words Henry said to him was, I guess I won t be flying with ya. Paul answered Henry s defeated spirit with a firm promise. When I get back, you ll fly with me, just like we planned. Will a twist of fate bring Paul face to face with his old friend on the field of battle? Can a dream of two young boys transcend the boundaries of southern segregation? Will their love for this magical land known as the Mississippi Gulf Coast be enough to bring these two men to the edge of victory? The love of God, the love of this mystical southern land, and the love of family aren t just words to these men...they re life itself.
