Syrian Nationalism: An Inquiry into the Political Philosophy of Antun Sa'adeh

A book that examines the development of Syrian nationalism as embodied in the thought of Antun Sa’adeh. It follows closely the path that Sa’adeh pursued in his effort to establish Syrian nationalism as a political fact and a concrete social reality. Within this broad aim, the book has two overlapping goals. The first is to analyse the Syrian Social Nationalist ideology, which Sa’adeh formulated between 1932 and 1949, against the political and historical framework of that time. The second is to consider the factors that set Sa’adeh apart from the contemporary nationalist and political thinkers of Syria and abroad, and those which united between them.
