Prison Prayers: Give Us Our Daily Bread

There is no sorrow so great that a scripture and prayer can’t pierce the darkness with the light of faith. These simple but thought-provoking prayers will lift your spirit, speak the truth to your heart, and strengthen you throughout the day. In 2010, Dr. Flint received 200 prayers from the Holy Spirit while traveling for a sales job. Each week when she reached 30,000 feet, 5 or 6 scriptures and prayers would pour forth from her pen into a journal. After 20 roundtrips (40 flights), her assignment was complete. Thinking they were for Christians in the workplace, she sent them to her friends and co-workers, but when she went to publish, the Lord impressed on her heart to send them to prisoners first for they had the greatest need. Perhaps with this little book of prayers, I can teach my brothers and sisters, that our prayers are not just about justice or freedom, but about our spiritual growth in Christ. They are about using our circumstances to become more like Him. Mostly, I hope that the Christians “on the inside” will know that if someone spends the time to write this book, you are not forgotten and that God loves you.
